Artmedia Gallery – Miami

This exhibition proposes a look at the series “The Wayfarer” created between 2011 and 2013 by Alejandro Maureira, a Chilean artist residing in Madrid. The interesting thing about these works is that they are not a mere recounting of the places captured in his travels through different Spanish towns; they are not only the narration of the meanderings of a photographer seeking themes and subjects with which to enrich his oeuvre. Instead, they are a testament to those moments and situations with which the artist established a relationship of empathy. They are a testament to a close emotional relationship with the various places, subjects and situations that left an indelible mark on Maureira.

From a technical point of view, we see photos in which the artist does not utilize studied compositions or sophisticated filters, or play with shadows and lights. Instead, he exploits the act of capturing the beauty of unique and unrepeatable moments, textured with the freshness of spontaneity.
